"Kabau, I hear I have to be strong but bro you've taken away every bit of strength I have. How do I accept you are no more? When does this pain stop? Rest easy X-man. Love you always," the brother of Xavier Nato, Davis Ivor wrote on social media, breaking news of his death on 31st December, 2024.
Xavier suffered a stroke late in 2024, which accelerated his underlying kidney illness. A talented playwright and actor who starred in the popular drama series Wash Wash, he contributed to the development of the theatre industry in Kenya, founding Millaz Productions and producing some impressive works of art in the Kenya National Drama and Film Festival. His efforts earned him awards in the process, including the KTAâs Inaugural Best Playwright Award in 2022.
Passionately, Nato advocated for recognizing and promoting co-curricular activities in schools, decrying the sad deterioration of attention given to the fine arts.
I would like my daughter to get involved in co-curricular activities. Co-curriculars in Primary Schools are slowly dying and she never got an opportunity. Please do not subject her to the same in high school. #BringBackCocurricular
His legacy as a playwright, actor, and advocate for co-curricular activities will continue to inspire generations to come. As we mourn the loss of a true visionary, let us also honor his memory by championing the causes he held dear, nurturing young talent and ensuring that arts and co-curricular activities thrive in our schools. May his work live on in the vibrant performances and creative pursuits of those he inspired. Rest in peace, X-man.
